Who am I?
I am your typical Englishman, polite, well spoken and definitely not like the bad guy many films portray. To learn more, please visit my About page.
What do I do when I'm not shooting?
I'm in, on or near the water, after all it's Hawaii! Kayak fishing, snorkeling, swimming and long walks on the beach with my wife and labrador are just a few of the things I enjoy on the Big Island. To finish the day with a nice hand crafted micro brew watching the sun set into the horizon, is pretty much heaven to me.
How did I get into photography?
I've always loved photography but the pivotal moment came on my first visit to Hawaii where I was inspired to turn my passion into my profession. I've since earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commercial Photography. This has led me to where I am now, a Big Island Hawaii photographer.
Do you only shoot weddings on the Big Island?
No, I'm happy travel to Oahu, Maui, Kauai and other Hawaiian islands as well as destinations outside of Hawaii please inquire for details.
Why wedding photography?
The first wedding I shot was unintended for the most part, I was asked by some friends to shoot their wedding, I was hooked after just that one. I love the fast paced movement of the day along with the excitement and emotion that happens. Being the photographer I am given an all access pass to document the day and capture intimate moments, creating more than just great photos, but a story that will last a lifetime.
What is my wedding photography style?
Having studied documentary editorial photography, I love to allow things to happen naturally and capture moments in their purest form. My aim is to create flattering, naturally beautiful images whilst being as unobtrusive and discreet as possible. I also enjoy developing new lighting & styling techniques to create contemporary wedding portraits.
Do I pose and set up shots?
Yes and no. I try not to, but the majority of my brides and grooms have not been photographed by a wedding photographer before, so I will usher you both into beautiful settings and take you through different scenarios which will inspire you to smile, laugh and melt into each other.
Do you only photograph weddings?
Although I specialize in weddings, I also enjoy shooting engagement, 'trash the dress', honeymoon and family portraits.
If I book you as my Big Island Wedding Photographer, will you shoot my wedding yourself?
Yes most definitely, this is what I do, it's what I love. Depending on the package I may also have a second photographer with me.
How do I book a Hawaii wedding, engagement or family photography
session with you?
That's easy, just use the contact page and provide some details about your photography session and I'll get back to you with pricing & booking information. You may also phone me at 808.238.1811.
What should I look for in a Hawaii Wedding Photographer?
Photography style, professionalism, personality, creativity and value are all important aspects to consider. Knowing your photoghapher really cares about providing the best experience and images possible is also significant.
Which Big Island Hawaii wedding location would you recommend?
That depends. Are you dreaming of a beach wedding, sunset, rainforest? How many people are attending and would you like them seated or standing? Would you prefer a private location? There is a lot to consider when planning a Big Island Hawaii wedding, but I have some great locations I can offer during your consultation.
What types of weddings have you photographed?
Everything from large, exclusive and lavish weddings to small, intimate ceremonies. Elegance isn't always about size, it's about the small details and no matter the size of your wedding or budget I aim to produce the best images possible.
What time of day should I have my wedding or photoshoot?
Generally, the morning tends to produce bright, contrasted photos with a blue ocean and sky. With late afternoon and sunset you will usually get the beautiful 'golden hour' light. Weddings which are scheduled 1-2 hours before sunset tend to have a bright, blown out sky and a grey ocean. I do my best to shoot from a variety of angles to produce a wide array of photos, however, if the blue sky and ocean is important to you, then scheduling your ceremony for the morning or early in the afternoon would be recommended. If you have further questions about this, please contact us.
